Reporting and dashboard
The monthly report writes itself
Because every entry is tracked with a timestamp, you don't just see where the project stands – you see where it's heading. Follow the trends over time, or roll back to the previous month-end and see the figures exactly as they were then. The report is generated in a blink, with the period, focus and layout you choose.
The challenge
Which version of the spreadsheet is the right one?
Posted figures have to be pulled from the accounts, pasted in and formatted. Then the report is saved as "Report_March_v3_FINAL" – and three months later nobody knows which version was actually the final one. In AIMZ everything is traceable: the report can be generated exactly as the project looked at any point in time.
Export and paste every month
Figures are pulled out of the accounts and pasted into a template. The same job, on every project, every period.
The figures can't be rolled back
You see what the forecast is today, but not what it was at the previous month-end – unless someone remembered to copy in the old period figures. Easy to get wrong.
No way from the figure to the source
The report shows a variance, but not which invoice or change order caused it. Then the search begins.
How AIMZ works
One data source, three ways to see it
Dashboards you set up yourself
A project manager and a CFO don't need to see the same thing. Choose the widgets relevant to your role, place them where you want them, and let the layout stand. Every widget reads from the same underlying data, so the figures line up no matter how they're arranged.
Monthly report against the previous period
The report is generated from what's already recorded, and automatically set against the previous period. The interesting part is rarely the figure itself – it's the movement. If the forecast has moved, you see how much and why, with the change order that caused it as the source.
The whole portfolio in one view
Because every project registers the same way, they can be compiled without anyone doing the work manually. Management sees margin, forecast and variance across the board – and can go from the portfolio figure down to a single invoice without asking for an export.
What projects get out of it
Questions we often get
Can we use our own report template?
In AIMZ you build dashboards and tables yourselves, so the report follows your own template – you choose which project data is shown and what the focus is. If it needs to be reported further up the organisation or externally, the figures can be exported.
What happens if something is recorded after the period has been reported?
The period is locked once it's reported, so the figures in that report stand. New entries land in the current period and show up as a movement there.
Does management get to see every project?
Access is controlled per role. A project manager sees their own projects, while finance and management can be given access across the portfolio.
How do I choose which figures the report builds on?
When you create a report you set both a forecast date and a posted date. The forecast date pulls the forecast figures as they looked at that point in time, while the posted date pulls the invoices and posted figures as they've actually been booked. If you're reporting for August in the middle of September, you include forecast figures up to today, but only posted figures through the end of August.
